Chiquitania’s almond and cusi

01:05 | Later, also in that same project, the FCBC launches that the cusi palm tree could be pressed without the need to cook it as it was done previously. 

01:20 | My mother, for example, didn’t take it out to sell, but she took it out for… since it’s medicinal, she took it out to cure the children when we were sick, the grandchildren, all of that, that cured, right? with the cusi oil.

01:40 | In that project the engineers lunched saying “There is this project… we are going to bring the press” they brought the press and we have already done…

01:57 | So we processed the cusi oil, they taught us how we were going to do it, from 2010 until now 2022 we are selling, the only issue is we don’t have a market (customers) yet.

00:08 | En el 2010 aparece esta institución de ‘FCBC’, los ingenieros nos visitaron nos charlaron sobre el tema de la almendra Chiquitana; y bueno, nos encantó porque son recursos no maderables, pero con buenos beneficios, solo que antes no lo sabíamos si eso se podía consumir. 

00:31 | Solamente comíamos la pulpa, pero echando a perder la semilla, que tan lindo es la semilla. 

00:39 | Entonces, aparece la institución y nos compran. En aquella vez, ellos pagaban 15 pesos [bolivianos] el kilo, uh… usted viera cómo se emocionaban los niños, nosotras las mujeres, los hombres mayores, igual. 

00:57 | Porque era una maravilla para nosotros de poder tener esos ingresos de esos recursos que antes se desperdiciaba. 

01:05 | Luego después también en ese mismo proyecto lanza la FCBC de que la palmera del cusi se había podido prensar sin necesidad de cocerlo como lo hacían los anteriores. 

01:20 | Mi mamá, por ejemplo, no sacaba para vender, pero sacaba para… como es medicinal, sacaba para curar a los niños cuando estábamos enfermos, los nietos, todo eso, eso curaba ¿no? con el aceite de cusi. 

01:35 | Entonces eso no más era lo que yo podía ver, pero yo tampoco nunca sacaba. 

01:40 | En ese proyecto también lanzaron los ingenieros dijeron “Hay este proyecto… le vamos a traer la prensa” trajeron la prensa y hemos hecho ya… 

01:50 | Era… todo para nosotros era una maravilla, porque en nuestra vida nunca pensábamos creer eso ¿no? 

01:57 | Entonces hicimos el procesamiento del aceite de cusi, nos enseñaron cómo le íbamos a hacer, desde el 2010 hasta ahora 2022 estamos vendiendo, solo que no tenemos mercado.
