Younger generations and older generations

00:00 | About ten years ago there was no electricity, we lived with our little lamps in our homes, right? towards night, of course we would do other activities, not anymore… 

00:12 | Now youth sometimes stay on the phone until late at night, seeing things that sometimes do not bring them a future. That is what I have noticed now, but the community itself expects and respects everything that is, let’s say, useful, what is helpful. 

00:31 | What happens is that we as older people are not practicing with them [young people]. We have been to blame for not intervening in them, let’s say, to what is the custom, the tradition. 

00:48 | But I always say and recommend that we must not forget the tradition, for the same reason we must remember, practice. 

00:59 | For example, the indigenous language, which is from our community, maybe it will make us ashamed? Or I don’t know why we don’t pronounce it, right? 

01:08 | And being that in our community young people should at least know how to greet the person in what is the original language that is Bésiro. 

01:18 | But we don’t do that either, why? because we are already convinced that other generations are coming, and we are, to our own [culture], as it is said, devaluing and being that it is our own. 

00:00 | Unos diez años atrás no había la energía [eléctrica], se vivía con su lamparita en su casa, ¿no? se hacia la noche, y ya claro haría otras cosas personal, ya no pero…  

00:12 | Ahora ya la juventud se dedica a veces hasta tarde la noche con el teléfono, viendo cosas que a veces no le trae futuro. Eso es lo que yo he notado ahora ¿no?, pero en sí la comunidad aguarda y respeta todo lo que es, digamos, útil, lo que es servicial. 

00:31 | Lo que pasa que no nosotros como mayores no estamos practicando con ellos [los jóvenes]. Nosotros mismos hemos tenido la culpa de no digamos intervenirlos a ellos, digamos ¿no?, a lo que es la costumbre, la tradición. 

00:48 | Pero yo digo y recomiendo siempre de que lo tradicional de nuestro pueblo no debemos olvidar, por lo mismo debemos recordar, practicar. 

00:59 | Por ejemplo, el idioma indígena, que es de nuestra comunidad, digamos ¿tal vez nos dará vergüenza? O no sé porque no lo pronunciamos ¿no? 

01:08 | Y siendo de que en nuestra comunidad los jóvenes necesitan saber por lo menos saludar a la persona en lo que es el idioma originario que es el Bésiro. 

01:18 | Pero eso tampoco lo hacemos ¿por qué? porque ya estamos convencidos de que vienen otras generaciones, y a lo propio nuestro lo estamos, como que dicen, desvalorizando y siendo que es lo propio.
